Kelly and Justin’s wedding paper was packed with personal details. Alli and I were able to work together from the invitations all the way through to day-of paper. The texture, the rich color palette, all the possible print methods – this ended up being one of my favorite projects of all time. I think this suite is a perfect example of what fine art wedding stationery is all about.
With this ethereal suite design, historical charm meets modern-day romance. We wanted these invitations to evoke a sense of nostalgia for guests, taking inspiration from the artistry of old books and using ornate old-world border illustrations. This suite was jam-packed with texture, from the handmade paper to four unique printing methods: a combination of letterpress printing, gold foil stamping, sculpted embossing, and flat printing.
The star of the show was absolutely the palette-knife painted lily of the valley. I’ll be honest; my first round of designs missed the mark in terms of color palette and more specifically this painting. I ended up deciding to completely redo the painting for them – and I’m so glad I did. The updated painting is one of my favorite works to date, and the second design round ended up being everything they were looking for. This painting combined with ornate illustrations and a custom calligraphy monogram wax seal that truly made this suite one-of-a-kind. Every detail down to the envelope was carefully designed. I worked with Flourish Fine Writing to curate the perfect vintage postage set, complete with a United Stated Air Force stamp to honor Justin’s service, a NOLA streetcar stamp to represent their favorite trip together, and a Washington statehood stamp commemorating the place where they became ~official~. Alli finished it off addressing with a beautiful sage green calligraphy ink, and their custom monogram made an appearance with the return address on the flap.
One little detail I loved was actually a reference to song lyrics. Taylor Swift’s “Invisible String” is a song that is very meaningful to their love story – it was even playing the moment Justin got down on one knee! When I was reading through their details, this stuck out to me as something that was really important to them, and I wanted to find a way to incorporate it into their design. The exterior folder featured sculpted embossed floral crests with their initials on each side of the opening. It is a small and subtle detail, but there is a blind embossed “invisible” string that goes all the way around the back of the folder, connecting their initials together. It’s these hidden “easter eggs” that make me the most excited to do what I do. While it may just be another aesthetically pleasing design element to your guests, it’s something that means a great deal to you. And, after all, your invitations are first and foremost meant to be a cherished heirloom for you.
Beyond the wedding invitations, I got to work with Kelly and her mom on her bridal shower invitations, featuring a flower-shop-inspired digital watercolor painting. It was fun to work with a totally different artwork style but still make sure it felt cohesive with the rest of their wedding paper.
I also worked with Alli on a wide array of day-of pieces including signage, escort cards, place setting menus, and fun cocktail napkins. One of my favorite day-of pieces was their signature drink sign, which incorporated custom illustrations of their two pups! Grace Brown Photography did a stunning job documenting their wedding day, and I was totally swooning when they sent me their full image gallery.
Kelly and Justin – I hope your future is full of love and joy! Thank you for entrusting me with your fine art wedding stationery. It was an absolute pleasure working with you.

From the couple:
“Amy did an incredible job working with us on our wedding stationary. She was incredibly organized and incorporated everything from my vision into a beautifully curated masterpiece. We also used Amy to curate our detail styling kit, which was incredibly helpful and took one tedious thing off my plate. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend Amy…her process was seamless and my family can’t stop talking about the wedding stationary!“
