When Alexis first contacted me, I knew I wanted to work with her and Steven – and I’m so glad I got the chance to! Their warm spirits and the love they so clearly shared made the entire design process that much more enjoyable. Alexis had a vision from the start, and I loved being able to bring it to life for her and Steven’s black tie wedding.
The goal was to keep a clean and classic aesthetic. Using black and white as their wedding colors, I knew we would be channeling an alluring simplicity. Through the use of whitespace, letterpress printing, and strong typography, their save the dates came to life on a hefty cardstock that set the tone for what was to come. The pristine look and feel of these cards gave guests an idea of the black tie formality they would have on their wedding day, proving you can say so much with so little.
We carried the same style and grayscale color palette through when it came time to design the invitations. We used ombré tones throughout the cardstock, with deep grey envelopes and a thin charcoal-toned silk ribbon. Tonal letterpress ink added to the luxe vibe.
The real wow-factor of the suite was incorporating a custom drawn illustration of their venue and the grandeur that surrounds it. Using this as an envelope liner allowed the invitation to stand alone in all its minimal glory, while providing a hidden surprise of fine art just beneath the surface. For a destination wedding in Beacon, New York, giving guests a glimpse into the natural beauty was the perfect hint of excitement for what’s to come.
Hand addressed envelopes by AlliCat Calligraphy added another element of tradition – the perfect finishing touch. The white calligraphy combined with a black and white vintage postage set, making the envelopes their very own work of art. There is a level of luxury to this suite that really emanates sophistication.
To bring everything home, we reused the landscape illustration to create these beautiful welcome bag inserts. A+S greeted their guests with a lovely thank you message and plenty of things to keep them busy while visiting the area. Our stationery also escorted guests into the reception, with simple and traditional tented place cards.
From the moment the save the date arrived in the mail, until they took their seats at the dinner table, the guest’s experience was cohesive and elegant, leading up to a night to remember. Congratulations, A+S!
From the couple:
“Amy was a DREAM to work with! Amy did my entire save the date, wedding suite and day of stationary. Amy was always available to talk things through with. No question was ever too much. She made my entire vision that I had made up in my head come to life! She not only went out of her way to make sure everything she produced was exactly what I want but she hand drew so many elements to my exact vision! Amy is kind, talented and a dream to work with! I got SO many compliments on all of our stationary and I owe it all to her.”
