Art Nouveau Meets Middle Earth

This suite was a culmination of lots of pets, a love of Lord of the Rings, and a multi-acre venue with a weekend packed full of activities. Abby & Colton are nature lovers, so saying their vows amidst towering pines was the perfect fit. The grounds at Sandy Creek Farms offered an adventurous weekend for them and their guests, so we created a details booklet filled with information and used deep, earthy tones. To pull in natural textures and some elements of fantasy, their main invitation card featured letterpress printing, handmade paper, and unique typography. I illustrated a middle-earth-inspired map of the venue grounds (my hand still hurts just thinking about it, but it was totally worth it), which served as an outer wrap tied with leather cording and a compass wax seal. Upon opening, The inside of the wrap featured a print of their custom painting – showcasing the pine trees in their ceremony spot. An art-nouveau style pattern brought all of their pets into the fold, with celestial elements and flora from places pivotal to their love story. The iris became a recurring mark, as the state flower of Tennessee and a symbol of valor. A lot of different styles and concepts came together to create this perfectly quirky design for A&C.

Stationery Details:

Original painting: Acrylic on canvas palette knife painting
Custom pattern: Line drawn illustrations featuring their pets, celestial elements, flora and fauna from special locations, mockingbirds (the state bird of Tennessee), and pine cones
Custom map: Line drawn map of the venue grounds in a middle-earth-inspired style

Wrap: Tri-fold wrap printed on both sides with the map and painting, tied with a leather cord and sealed with a green compass wax seal

Details booklet: Custom-made booklet with dark green outer wrap, pattern-printed inner covers, and 8 pages of content on soft white paper, including a pocket for the RSVP card and envelope
Reply card: Soft white card with digitally printed text and illustrated elements
