Take Me to Santorini

Bianca + Tim shared their wedding day with their closest friends and family through an intimate dinner party in Santorini. When Bianca first reached out asking if I would be willing to create a single keepsake invitation suite for her Santorini wedding, I jumped at the opportunity – and I’m so glad I did.

The overall aesthetic was going to be soft and romantic, and I knew I wanted to create some very loose botanical illustrations in an almost abstract style. In addition, you can’t invite someone to a Santorini wedding without showcasing the iconic blue roofs of Santorini, am I right? Not only was there a sketch of the cliffside on the details card, but there was also a painting used as the envelope liner. Creating the artwork for this suite was a dream.

Gold leaf edges were applied by hand to each card and the dusty blue handmade paper envelope. We did a three-color letterpress print job on alternating blush and ivory handmade paper, incorporating their dusty blue, a tonal blush, and dusty rose. It was all wrapped up in a vellum jacket with hand-drawn gold foil botanical detailing, dusty blue silk ribbon, and a gold wax seal. Calligraphy partner AlliCat Calligraphy came through on the final details with stunning envelope calligraphy and scroll-style place cards.

With the stunning whites and blues of Santorini as your backdrop, not much can go wrong. Bianca and Tim chose a stunning pastel color palette that kept everything feeling light and airy in the midst of this summer day. From the detail on her stunning gown to each perfectly placed floral, not a single detail went unnoticed. The love these two share is clear in these images, and it was an honor to create a paper suite that upheld their spectacular aesthetic.

I also got to work with Alli on place setting menus, printed on handmade paper with a wax sealed place card. The landscape illustration got another chance in the spotlight, and we used the oceanscape in the painting from their envelope liner and cut it down into the place cards, which Alli carefully calligraphed in a bright white ink. Their sunset dinner table was surrounded with fairy lights and backed by that stunning view, a total dream! It makes my heart happy knowing that my designs are now physical keepsakes to remember the best day of their lives.
