When I tell you I loved working with Jayme and Nick, I mean I ✨LOVED✨ every. single. second. Alli and I collaborated on so many details for these two, and I can’t even count how many times we said “Can we keep her?!” during this experience. Every once in a while a client comes along and gives over complete trust – Jayme was that client.
Hawaii is an important place for J+N, so we wanted to incorporate hibiscus flowers into the design. I created six paintings for Jayme and Nick: one large abstract floral palette knife painting to serve as the wrap and envelope liner, and five mini canvases with additional details. I also did a pen and ink illustration of my interpretation of “The Lovers” Tarot card on handmade paper. All of these works were digitized and used across all of their invitation pieces for a moody, colorful, totally unique suite. Foil printing and gold painted edges elevated the main invitation card to the next level. A beautiful monogram flanked by four butterflies represented the two of them and their two sons. All of these pieces came together to create an extraordinary suite.
It was a beautiful day at a beautiful location – everything was so elegant and there were Christmas trees set up around the venue for added charm. Their florist did an immaculate job – Jayme’s bouquet was to die for, and we loved watching the florist set up the ceremony backdrop complete with gold-sprayed foliage and so many gorgeous blooms. Jayme looked absolutely stunning (and we may or may not have creeped on her bridal portraits from the next room.)
For the stationery, there were so many special and unique day-of paper details. One of my favorite pieces was a memorial piece, but it was unlike any other memorial piece I’ve done before. Jayme asked if we could display an invitation suite addressed to her late grandparents. I thought this was the sweetest idea, and I designed a full shadow box with dried flowers and ribbon. On site, Alli added “In memoriam” to the front glass. It came together beautifully.
Alli and I also created a hand-painted welcome sign. This was such a fun project for me as I hope to offer more hand-painted signage moving forward. The matte black acrylic was perfect for this wedding. “The Lovers” made a comeback as the signature drink sign and in gold foil on black cocktail napkins (one of my favorite parts of the whole day!). Alli also calligraphed a mirror seating chart, bar sign, table numbers, and a special message on the ladies’ bathroom mirror.
I wish Jayme + Nick all the happiness in the world. Their wedding day was as beautiful as their love story, and Alli and I were both so happy to be a small part of it. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Russo!
