Romantic Editorial Suite

When Cara from Cara Marie Photography approached me about designing a suite for her Romantic Editorial Workshop with The Finding Co. and Jieru Photography, I said yes in a heartbeat. I’ve worked with Cara before and know the type of work she produces, so it was a no-brainer! My favorite part? I got to collaborate with my calligraphy partner, AlliCat Calligraphy, to show off some of the magic we can create together.
I used the gorgeous venue, Beechdale Farms, as my inspiration working through this design. I drew a line illustration of the mansion by hand, simplified it in the computer, and had it made into a letterpress plate along with Alli’s calligraphy. With blush and dusty rose ink, the letterpress really gave this suite an even more romantic vibe. One of the things I love most about creating bespoke invitations is that every one can be a little bit different, and for these I thought hand-drawn foil elements would be next-level special. It was so fun to experiment with my new foil pen for this project to give each copy it’s own personal touch.
I wanted the final suite to feel timeless with a modern flair. Alli’s calligraphy style paired perfectly with a simpler, classic design. The paper for every piece was hand-torn, from the save the dates through to the menus, giving everything a softer tone. Being able to carry a design from invitations through the wedding day is one of the most satisfying parts of my job. From the moment your guests open their save the date, they should be given a glimpse into the aesthetic of your day. Creating cohesive designs brings a beautiful continuity to anchor your wedding day or event and set the tone for all the other details.
